Klinsmann takes the shot

In June 1996 I was accredited for an international friendly soccer match between Germany and Liechtenstein in Mannheim shortly before the EURO 96. Equipped with my Nikon F4s and a borrowed fast telephoto lens that I could borrow I had the chance to cover the match and see the upcoming winner of the EURO 96. There were no professional digital cameras at that time. However a developing service was offered by Fuji Film in the stadium. Along the field I could spot a few professional photographers using their laptops editing images scanned from film and sending them out to their agencies via phone line. This was a view into the future world of professional sports photography. To me this picture ist a part of my love for sports photography including techniques I still use today - learned during the old analogue days.

Public Library Stuttgart, Germany

The Public Library of the City of Stuttgart is an architectonic icon designed by Prof. Eun Young Yi. It is a photographic magnet and the library only allows photographs being taken with special permit. This pictures is taken "by hand" without the possibility of using a tripod - a certain challenge to capture composition an symmetry of the interior building.

Porsche Plant Stuttgart Zuffenhausen

This picture shows Porsche's automotive factory "Plant 2" in Stuttgart Zuffenhausen where the Porsche 911, 718 Boxster and Taycan are produced. This is my "home turf" where I am responsible for the future infrastructure. The picture shown consists of nine single frames shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 during blue hour  - edited in Capture One Pro and merged in Adobe Photoshop. In the future major parts of this plant will be changed - another possibility to include this change in my project.

Pink Floyd Animals in Stuttgart

Being a musician myself playing keyboards I am a great fan of Pink Floyd and their art work designed by Hipgnosis and its late founder Storm Thorgerson. The picture on the cover of "Animals" taken at Battersea Power Station and the story behind the making of inspired me to create this composite. It shows the thermal power plant in stuttgart combined with a picture of the flying pic (flying over the VA museum in London). On my drive to work I took the main picture early morning in winter during golden hour that creates these special colors.

Zaanse Schans Public Museum, Zaandam (The Netherlands)

The public museum of Zaanse Schans is world famous located in the vicinity of Amsterdam. As my wife is half Dutch we often travel to Holland with our children. I made us stop overnight at Zaanse Schans to take a picture during blue hour of the local cheese producer. Inspired by Albert Dros who lives around the corner and has taken this picture many times I used a fisheye lens to get the whole scene in one frame.

Mountain biking in the "Desert"

This is a spontaneous picture of my youngest son on an evening bicycle ride during the first covid lockdown in Germany. To me it looks like a sunset somewhere in the desert and instead of the tree there could be giraffes walking through the frame.

Milky Way over Welzheim Roman Castle

My current hometown Welzheim was a former roman castle along the Limes. The replica of the castle inspired me to take a picture including the stars and the Milky Way. Although it is taken in the middle of the night light pollution from a nearby city can be seen in the picture. With this picture I won a local award and it is is part of a 2021 calendar sponsored by a regional bank.

Christmas Lights in Welzheim, Germany 2020

As part of my yearly Christmas card I look for motives that represent the warm advent feeling. Here I took a picture of the historic part of Welzheim. Working with drones opens a new perspective - however the technical capability of taking low light pictures is restricted - still the warm winter feeling is obvious.

Snowy "Happy Park"

The roman castle of Welzheim is also theme of a local playground. Taken early morning after a heavy and cold snowfall it shows an untouched scenery in a monochromatic look although being  a color photo.

Loneliness in winter times

Blue hour and snow in combination express a distinctive freezing atmosphere.
This is another example of monochromatic desaturate surroundings without using black and white.

Secret prototype within the Porsche factory

This picture was taken 2018 during the secret phase of the Porsche Taycan. The moment was taken during the first run in the test field of the Porsche 911. In the background an internal motivational ad can be seen of the future car that was still in its development phase. For security reasons prototype cars are in black color and covered to prevent any premature publishing of its design.

Film Noir remembered

Fascinated by the look of film noir I set up this picture with my eldest son in our house. The blinds were mounted on a rack. My target taking this picture was trying to reach the high contrast including a majorly dark scenery. Abercrombie & Fitch taken back to the "old" black and white film days.
